True Colors — The Weeknd

"True Colors—The Weeknd" is the fourth installment in a captivating series of album cover-inspired artworks. Commissioned by a beloved supporter, it’s a recreation of the Starboy album cover, and I can’t express how much I enjoyed diving into the intricate details and vibrant contrasts that make this artwork so special.

When creating this piece, I worked to build depth and texture by layering white and light blues, while using indigo and dark blues to give the darker areas more weight. What makes this even more dynamic is how I intentionally left certain parts of the face—the eyes, nose, and lips—free of blue. This creates a strong focal point on The Weeknd’s piercing stare and commanding presence.

One of my favorite aspects of this piece is the attention to detail. Every small feature was designed to bring this portrait to life, from the strands of hair between his fingers to the precision in his ring. The blue tones were carefully chosen to lean toward vibrancy, while the red background has subtle hints of orange to warm it up. This contrast creates a neon-like effect that enhances the entire composition
